If your new list is meant to be public (which means it will be present on the homepage and in the category listings) please do a quick search (see below) to see if there is an existing list which is like the one you want to create. If your list idea is not unique then you're out of luck. If there is something wrong with the list that beat you to the punch then please email us and let us know your thoughts. We already have a number or fine lists about guitarists and beautiful women at this point.

Make sure that your list makes sense and would be of interest to others. My 5 Favorite Types of Squash is not so good, but Favorite Squash Type or Types of Squash is fine. Most lists should allow other users to add items to the list. You are welcome to make a non-public list of your 10 favorite songs.

Use Title Case for Your List Name. DO NOT USE ALL CAPS IN EITHER THE LIST NAME OR THE DESCRIPTION. Excessive punctuation is also unwarranted!!!!!!!!!!

Please do not add public lists which directly promote a product or service. You are welcome to create lists which are about your industry or service and then add yourself to them as an item. Information about advertising on wanderlist can by found on the about page.

If you provide an email address on your user tools page you will be emailed when new items are added to the new list.

After you've created your list, go to the list itself by clicking on the list title and add at least two or three items to 'seed the list'.

All public lists are reviewed.

If your list is deemed unfit for wanderlist it will be set to non-public. In most cases you are on the honor system to keep the list non-public. However in the case of lists which are so clearly redundant or just plain dumb the attributes for the list will be locked. If you return your list to public viewing after it has been set as non-public and your list is still not up to snuff then that list will be set to non-public and locked and most of your list submissions will be reviewed with a more discerning eye.

As wanderlist continues to grow the bar for list submissions will only get higher. As with any community, good contributions from good citizens are always welcome and appreciated.
